Cruisers Yachts 54 Cantius – More Than The Sum Of Its Parts

CY 54

Nov 23, 2016

In the December issue of Canadian Yachting, we review the new Cruisers Yachts 54 Cantius. Cruisers Yachts first introduced their Cantius express cruiser designs several years ago, with the Cantius line now including 41, 45, 48, 54 and 60-foot models.

All are distinguished by their huge sunroof and glass aft bulkhead that gives one continuous floor level from the helm back to the transom for maximum living space and a layout that’s great for entertaining.

The heading on the article says the Cruisers Yachts 54 Cantius is more than the sum of its parts; read the review to understand what we meant – this yacht has a feeling that is hard to describe but easy to enjoy. It is a big boat with a lot of accommodation and a host of luxury features, but the way it opens up like a runabout and the way it performs with the twin Volvo Penta IPS 950 engines is unexpected but stellar!

Enjoy the full review and lots more great photos in our December issue. If you’re not getting yours, subscribe HERE!

They have all been exceptional yachts, but this is the one I would most want to own myself. It’s a personal choice and a matter of taste as to whether you would prefer to have a sedan express model or a flybridge but in my opinion, the flybridge layout offers some wonderful attributes.

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
