Beneteau Launches New Flagship at the Annapolis Sailboat Show

Beneteau Oceanis 62

May 24, 2016

Beneteau announces the Americas premiere of the new Oceanis Yacht 62 at the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis, October 6-10 2016.

The first model of the Oceanis Yacht range stems from a collaboration between Beneteau, Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design and the Italian designer Pierangelo Andreani. Through this partnership, they are taking the 60-foot sailing yacht concept to another level, where space, light and design come together in unison to transform life at sea.

This new flagship is characterized by an eye-catching sporty line recognizable among thousands. Lined with large windows, she boasts a strikingly elegant profile. She is reassuring to handle and finds full expression in a chined hull, twin rudders and a sail plan that is perfectly balanced.

The Oceanis Yacht 62 optimizes outdoor living and entertaining with six sunbathing areas, an optional fully equipped aft galley with griddle and a spacious aft platform.

Below these ample spaces, noble materials and meticulous attention to details create a modern and bright atmosphere.
The innovative layout of the Oceanis Yacht 62 boasts a spacious salon and plenty of separate spaces for optimized privacy and comfort. Due to the large hull portholes, the lavish interior bathes in natural light, highlighting the exclusive woodwork finishes.

In either the 3- or 4-cabin configuration, the Oceanis Yacht 62 accommodates family and friends with all the comfort at sea you’ve come to expect from Beneteau.

They have all been exceptional yachts, but this is the one I would most want to own myself. It’s a personal choice and a matter of taste as to whether you would prefer to have a sedan express model or a flybridge but in my opinion, the flybridge layout offers some wonderful attributes.

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
