BAVARIA MOTORBOATS opens the trade fair season with two world premieres in Cannes. The new semi-displacement yacht BAVARIA E40 FLY and the planning hull BAVARIA R40 FLY will be presented to a large audience for the first time at the Cannes Yachting Festival from the 6th to the 11th September. Both motor yachts are manufactured at BAVARIA YACHTS in a new production process. With these revolutionary motor yachts, interior, hull and deck are built in parallel on a dedicated line and only brought together at the end of the 125-metre-long production line. Hull and deck are manufactured in a modern vacuum infusion process, the results are stronger and lighter hulls with lower fuel consumption and higher quality.

The BAVARIA E40 Sedan version has already been viewed by many customers her E-Summer-Tour in June on internal waterways and seas and in many European marinas. Over 500 interested customers from the Netherlands and Germany took the opportunity for a test drive on the BAVARIA E40 SEDAN during the tour.

In Cannes, BAVARIA YACHTS will be presenting the Flybridge version of BAVARIA E40 as a world premiere. A generous interior with a real panoramic saloon, a large owners cabin with heads and separate shower in the bow, as well in the aft as the choice of one or two aft cabins, also dedicated heads, make the BAVARIA E40, whether in Fly- or Sedan-version, perfect for extended holidays with six or eight people. The BAVARIA E40 FLY now offers the helmsman an equally perfect visibility from two helm stations, downstairs in the airy and light flooded saloon or from the large Flybridge. In addition to the cockpit and the large saloon, the cockpit offers the ideal place for breakfast in the sun. The new BAVARIA R40 FLY is characterised by clean and elegant lines, dynamic driving characteristics and high-quality equipment. The ergonomic helm stand in the saloon, with three individual forward facing sports seats, and a door from the helm stand to the exterior deck make travelling and mooring a joyful experience. The spacious Galley features stylish practical work surfaces and space for an optional drawer dishwasher. When not in use the galley becomes a stylish sideboard to complement the spacious salon. The level cockpit to saloon floors complimented by a clever patio door that stows to portside allows the full potential of the saloon & cockpit space to be realised and used as one space.

Not just their own bathroom with separate shower compartments, but pure luxury awaits guests and owners in the two cabins. The full beam aft stateroom cabin with chaise under large hull window is the perfect place to relax. High-grade walnut or white oak joinery choices allow individual customisation, and can be combined with eight professional interior design selected interior upholstery materials. The space on offer in the two cabins with large king-size island beds, numerous cabinets and plenty of natural light, is among the largest in its class.

On deck nothing is left to be desired, even for demanding owners. The helm stand on the spacious Flybridge is equipped with Volvo EVC Glass Bridge for navigation and engine management. Both helm & navigator seats rotate to face L-shaped seat creating superb area to enjoy the day at sea on the Flybridge with its own Bimini cover. On the transom, there is a grill as well as a large bathing platform, on which there is plenty of space for a jet ski or a fast dinghy. Moving forward the foredeck sunpad features adjustable headrests, drinks holders & bimini for perfect relaxation.

Both yachts can also be visited at the Southampton Boat Show in England, and also at the Interboot in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance from 17th to 25th September.

Neptunus 650F Review

Neptunus 650F 400

By Andy Adams

Over the years Canadian Yachting has had the pleasure of doing several boat review articles on new Neptunus models and we are familiar with the qualities that Neptunus is famous for. They have all been exceptional yachts, but this is the one I would most want to own myself. It’s a personal choice and a matter of taste as to whether you would prefer to have a sedan express model or a flybridge but in my opinion, the flybridge layout offers some wonderful attributes.

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
