Western Canada Jeanneau Rendezvous

Jeanneau Rendezvous

Aug 9, 2017

The Fraser Yacht Sales team, (and recent recipients of the 2017 Jeanneau Dealer of the Year Award) was very proud to once again host the 2017 Western Canada Jeanneau Rendezvous from June 16-18 at Poets Cove on South Pender Island. This year boasted a record number of 37 yachts and 112 participants; heaps of kids, dogs, long-time Jeanneau owners and even a new boat owner who had taken possession of their new Jeanneau only two days prior joined in on the festivities.

A fun filled weekend it was – starting off with drinks served by Scott Macdonald from aboard the beautiful brand new Jeanneau Yacht 51 and a BBQ grilled by Ian Fraser. Saturday morning was very informative and interesting thanks to seminars by Ben Cook from Stem to Stern about battery maintenance, Scott Macdonald on behalf of Gill Marine Wear “Get Dressed for It (sailing)”and hearing from Mark Johncox, Tim & Andrew Buttjes about Miles’ preparation for and their adventure of the Vic-Maui race last year on their Jeanneau. Kids were kept busy, engaged and active in a scavenger hunt. Kudos to the boats that participated in the parade – there weren’t many, but they shined in spirit and had a great time. Meanwhile on the dock, a delicious spread of appetizers was sampled in our 1st annual Appie contest. Good laughs and fun was had during the blindfolded dinghy races, whilst those on the dock enjoyed cocktails made by Kevin Pritchard alongside great tunes by Norm Smith. Dinner of course was yet another highlight, everyone walked away with a great prize that was generously donated by one of our industry sponsors.

Jeanneau Rendezvous 2017We have confirmed the dates for next year already – and we look forward to welcoming all Jeanneau owners at Poets Cove from June 22-24, 2018. We hope to see you there!

Neptunus 650F Review

Neptunus 650F 400

By Andy Adams

Over the years Canadian Yachting has had the pleasure of doing several boat review articles on new Neptunus models and we are familiar with the qualities that Neptunus is famous for. They have all been exceptional yachts, but this is the one I would most want to own myself. It’s a personal choice and a matter of taste as to whether you would prefer to have a sedan express model or a flybridge but in my opinion, the flybridge layout offers some wonderful attributes.

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
