Updates from the Chief: Introducing a new E-Newsletter feature

Updates From Chief

Aug 9, 2016

I am so pleased that CPS-ECP has now completed arrangements for the publication of e-newsletters in both of our official languages. This is a great achievement for us as we modernize our communications tools and the ways in which we share with each other timely and useful information about CPS-ECP activities at all levels of our great organization. I encourage you all to submit your news or success stories such as your summer Rendez-Vous, a successful seminar or something you are proud of and agree to share. By doing so, your CPS-ECP friends can learn about the variety of activities we undertake across Canada.

Members have responded very positively in accessing the information provided in the English-language e-newsletter and I expect the new French-language version, that has just been issued, will be just as big a success. And now that we have these two e-newsletters, I am starting a new feature, called “Updates from the Chief”, which I hope will appear frequently so I can keep you informed about our various activities and plans as together we continue to renew and re-energize CPS-ECP and build on our accomplishments and the new foundations we built with the significant milestone of our new structures and regulations/bylaws.

The momentum continues. The evolution of CPS-ECP which began with those key changes continues. There are many changes and developments underway and there will be more to follow which build on that solid, updated foundation as we all work together to strengthen and evolve in the 21st century.

There are key pieces underway now which I will be updating you on. And so, with that introduction, let me start with my first update below which focuses on updated/refreshed statements of our collective CPS-ECP Vision, Mission, and Values.

Future updates will discuss CPS-ECP strategic priorities and planning activities and IT renewal activities.

Neptunus 650F Review

Neptunus 650F 400

By Andy Adams

Over the years Canadian Yachting has had the pleasure of doing several boat review articles on new Neptunus models and we are familiar with the qualities that Neptunus is famous for. They have all been exceptional yachts, but this is the one I would most want to own myself. It’s a personal choice and a matter of taste as to whether you would prefer to have a sedan express model or a flybridge but in my opinion, the flybridge layout offers some wonderful attributes.

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
