New C-Tow capability in Oakville

C-Tow logo

Capt. Michael Naumetz, proud new operator of C-Tow Oakville has a background vessel restoration and repair. Currently nearing completion of a 40ft houseboat, which will be used as on the water accommodations,” living on the water will allow for a very rapid response to vessels in need” said Captain Mike.

C-TOW offers on-water Unlimited Towing Memberships for Boaters; power, sail, or anglers for $100 per year. A boater without C-Tow service could weather costs of $750 per tow if privately contracted, some paying in the thousands out of pocket.

Surrounding C-Tow locations are Niagara and Toronto C-Tow operators, which rounds out extensive C-Tow coverage across Lake Ontario. C-Tow, founded in 1984, has locations across Ontario, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and BC.

“Embarking on a new venture, a full time job on the water is a dream come true” says Captain Mike. “We hold safety and professional courtesy in priority” when asked about his mindset proceeding the upcoming season.

Lake Ontario is a recreational paradise. Mariners like to get the most out of their boating season and accidents can happen, especially with the unpredictability of the last few years on Lake Ontario with the rising water levels and the unusually low levels the years before, navigating these waters can be treacherous. Captains Mike’s vessel is rigged for towing, jump starts, fuel delivery and soft ungrounding

Boaters can reach any C-Tow vessel by calling directly as (888) 419 CTOW(2869) toll-free 24/7 Dispatch Centre, or via smartphone using the C-TOW App. More information can be found at www.C-Tow.ca

Neptunus 650F Review

Neptunus 650F 400

By Andy Adams

Over the years Canadian Yachting has had the pleasure of doing several boat review articles on new Neptunus models and we are familiar with the qualities that Neptunus is famous for. They have all been exceptional yachts, but this is the one I would most want to own myself. It’s a personal choice and a matter of taste as to whether you would prefer to have a sedan express model or a flybridge but in my opinion, the flybridge layout offers some wonderful attributes.

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
