Marina news: Wright’s joins Hindson and Killbear

Wrights Marina Team

Apr 8, 2021

On April 1st, 2021, Wright’s Marina joined two other small, independent facilities: Hindson Marina in Penetanguishene and Killbear Marina near Parry Sound.

It’s a family affair: From left to right:
Carson Lacey, Karrie (Wright) Lacey, Graham Lacey, Madi Lacey, Kelly Hindson, Larissa Hindson, Braydon Hindson

Kelly Hindson has purchased Wright’s Marina; he has a hands-on approach that Wright’s customers are familiar with. Kelly feels that “Wright’s is a great addition to Hindson’s and Killbear; the location and the family-feel of the marina just fit so well. We want to keep things the way they’ve been run, we aren’t going to make a bunch of changes or take away the qualities that make Wright’s what it is.”

While many things will remain the same, we aim to progress the marina in the near future through updates and ways to improve your overall experience! We also invite you to take advantage of the reciprocal marina benefits and come down to Killbear & Hindson’s to meet more of our team and enjoy all we have to offer!

“We’re pleased to be bringing Madi Lacey back to Wright’s Marina in the role of General Manager; she will represent the fourth generation of the Wright family within the Marina.” Madi brings years of first-hand knowledge gained through her upbringing and hands-on training in various areas of Wright’s Marina, as well as an Intermediate Marina Management designation obtained through the Association of Marina Industries. She returns after a year and a half period at the Boating Ontario Association, which has further equipped her for her new position and provided her with invaluable knowledge of the marine industry.

The crews at Wright’s, Hindson’s, and Killbear look forward to continuing the same personal, friendly service. ycontact a member of the team at info@wrightsmarina.on.ca or Kelly directly at kelly@wrightsmarina.on.ca

Happy boating!

Neptunus 650F Review

Neptunus 650F 400

By Andy Adams

Over the years Canadian Yachting has had the pleasure of doing several boat review articles on new Neptunus models and we are familiar with the qualities that Neptunus is famous for. They have all been exceptional yachts, but this is the one I would most want to own myself. It’s a personal choice and a matter of taste as to whether you would prefer to have a sedan express model or a flybridge but in my opinion, the flybridge layout offers some wonderful attributes.

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
