June 10, 2019
As you read in Chief Commander Chuck Beall’s April 16 notes from the April Board meeting that were sent to you, we have exciting changes to our National Awards:
“AWARDS: Volunteers are the heart and soul of CPS-ECP. The Board wants to thank and recognize all our volunteers. Starting in Victoria, for each winner of 7 National Awards, and their guest, National will pay their transportation and 2 nights’ hotel accommodations so they can receive their awards in person. And we’ve arranged to have that done in a special ceremony on Friday night. The winners will get the spotlight in their own special ceremony without having to compete with all the rest of the AGM. The eligible awards are: Volunteer of the Year; Officer of the Year; Instructor of the Year; Electronic Course Instructor of the Year; Environmental Award; Squadron of the Year; and District of the Year. NB: The submission deadlines are now June 30, 2019.“
The overall winner in these categories will now be able to travel to and stay at the National Conference in Victoria with a guest at no cost to them. This is a big step CPS-ECP is taking to enable winners to attend in person and really be celebrated. The awards will also now be presented in a special ceremony on the Friday night instead of at the end of the long Saturday AGM. Both of these changes are to make the awards more special to the winners.
We are also bringing back the Squadron Star Trophy for new memberships and the District Bell Award for membership renewals. And, as with the National Awards, the Membership Officer of the winning squadron of the Star trophy will be able to travel to and stay at the national conference at no cost to them. No nominations are required for the Star Trophy or the Bell award as they will be determined by membership sign-up and renewal statistics.
So, please consider nominating someone for one or more of the 7 National Awards. We all know someone deserving and this is a special way for all of us to say, “THANK YOU!”
Nominations for 2019 CPS-ECP National Volunteer Awards
Its ‘Awards’ time……Who are you going to nominate?
CPS-ECP is made up of extraordinary individuals. Wouldn’t you like to make sure those people know how much they are valued and their contribution appreciated? An award is a special way to recognize and thank someone who has contributed exemplary effort to CPS-ECP in the areas of education, membership, volunteers, community, and communications.
Award winners will be publicly recognized at the upcoming October AGM in Victoria.
Any member can make a nomination. We know it can sometimes be difficult, because you might like to put their name forward for more than one category – that’s OK. Go ahead! You may like to nominate more than one person – that’s OK too.
Don’t put it off too long – just do it! Our volunteers deserve that consideration.
And there is no limit to the number of nominations one can submit.
There are awards for:
Volunteer of the Year
Officer of the Year
Instructor of the Year
Electronic Instructor of the Year
While we have extraordinary individual volunteers, we also know that there are exceptional teams of people too. There are awards for squadrons and districts that have achieved great success in the classroom as well as an Environment Award. These teams are at the core of moving our organization forward, ensuring boater safety but also in catalyzing CPS and its members to be leaders in actions that reduce impacts to the aquatic environment.
And new, starting last year we also have awards for Best Squadron and Best District which can nominate themselves or be nominated by others. Let us know what you have achieved and how your achievements can inspire other Squadrons and Districts.
What great titles to be able to put on your website – ”Volunteer”/ “Officer” / “Instructor” / “Best Class” / “Squadron” / “District” of the Year 2019 !
Information about the awards, past recipients, and the nomination forms can be found on the CPS-ECP website, click on the following Members Moorings, Volunteer Awards section.
