After borrowing boats for a couple of years, longtime J105 fanatic and many-year organizer of the Royal Canadian YC’s fundraiser Paddlethon for Ronald McDonald House decided to build his own boat to participate.

Doug picked a 13x4 Havilah Hawkins-designed rowing skiff. On this accompanying video he makes it look easy, but Doug had to use the excellent plans and materials list but make up his own instructions.

Building the skiff helped Doug create interest in the event, which continues to generate significant funds for a good cause. We covered the event in CYOB earlier this year.
