Fractional Yacht ProgramThere is no question that having a new yacht can be very rewarding, however, the costs and responsibilities of operating it can be overwhelming. Based in Toronto and servicing the Great Lakes area, YACHT Solutions now makes the Schaefer yacht products readily available to clients. Backed with a full yacht management program, they are introducing a revolutionary way to purchase this type of luxury yacht.

"It's the ultimate try it before you buy it program available," says founder Greg Marlo. “Imagine going to a luxury car dealership and asking if you can test drive one of their nicest cars for two to three months, in order to make an intelligent buying decision.” Unlikely…

Over a 28-year span, Schaefer Yachts has produced more than 3,700 boats between 26 and 83 feet, while setting a new standard of quality and innovation in the marine industry. Schaefer Yachts impress at first glance, but are unique in the market combining comfort with high technology. They stand out for their beauty, workmanship, sophistication and high performance, distinguishing and distancing from their competitors.

Fractional Yacht ProgramA stunning example is the Schaefer 510 Sport Pininfarina. Starting with Schaefer’s years of quality craftsmanship and culminating with the impeccable design excellence of the world-renowned Pininfarina design team, the Schaefer 510 Sport Pininfarina boasts the tour de force of luxury and style. For 90 years now, the name ‘Pininfarina’ has stood for iconic Italian design, globally. Featuring a bold but elegant look with its aesthetically modernistic lines and the detailed attention given to the innovative and ergonomic use of space, the Schaefer 510 Sport Pininfarina redefines superiority. Combine these qualities with the performance initiated by the expert design of Schaefer’s naval engineering team, and you have the definition of a well-groomed thoroughbred. Nothing has been overlooked on the Schaefer 510 Sport Pininfarina, as it further demonstrates Schaefer Yachts ‘ commitment for perfection, bringing you the most exhilarating, enjoyable on-the-water experience in the world.

Fractional Yacht ProgramUtilizing YACHT Solutions convenient Fractional Yacht Program, the new boat buyer can now enjoy a purchase process with no compromises. Have a boat to sell, another to order? Yet you don’t want to miss any time on the water, as the lead time to build a yacht can be several months. YACHT Solutions provides a seamless step-by-step ownership process so that no time or resources are wasted, and the client will always have a boat available. There is a distinct advantage of having your new boat built with the exact options you want, perhaps even visiting the factory during the building process. Some could even consider doing a sea trial in beautiful Brazilian waters before it gets shipped back home. As a Schaefer Yacht Dealership, more flexibility in buying a boat is offered than ever before.

Fractional Yacht ProgramYACHT Solutions also offer an Intelligent Ownership program for their owners that generates revenue, not unlike the business jet industry or private yacht world, where owners look to offset costs when they are not using the aircraft or boat. An owner retains the majority of benefits of yacht ownership without the high cost, day-to-day responsibilities and complications. Late model yachts will be available in the Greater Toronto Area this summer. Ultimately, owners save valuable time and money, while eliminating risks and stress.

If an upgrade to your present yacht or if you are planning an entry into the yachting lifestyle, the Schaefer Yacht Solution program is almost certainly the best on the market. Here is the contact information to explore what is available.

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 54By Zuzana Prochazka

Beneteau saw an opportunity to add a little thrill to any cruising adventure, so they took the hull of the First 53 racer (introduced just last year), and with a few fashionable changes, created the Oceanis Yacht 54, the new entry-level of Beneteau’s swanky Oceanis Yacht line. The result is a performance cruiser that sails like a witch and looks like a grande dame.

Design

Roberto Biscontini is the naval architect and Lorenzo Argento created the details of the exterior and interior design.

Galvanic CorrosionIt’s a scary thought – but whether your boat is made of wood, fiberglass, aluminum or composite – it’s slowly deteriorating under you. Part of this is the nature of the marine environment: Sun, moisture, waves, wind, movement and vibration all contribute to components breaking down.

But there are other factors that are much more concerning and act at a significantly faster rate that the environment can take credit for. One of these is commonly spoken of, but not terribly well understood: Corrosion. As boaters, we’re concerned with two main types of corrosion: Galvanic and Stray-Current. This edition will focus on galvanic corrosion – in two weeks, stay tuned for info on stray-current.

One of our Canadian Yachting contributors, Denise Miller, had shared the article on my social media and a young man reached out and asked if she could connect him with the owners of the boat, Dave and Barb. Denise leapt into action and Dave and Barb were thrilled. They concocted a plan that the young lady, Mia, thought she was coming to model for a sales brochure for Dave to do charter tours.
