POTW February 28, 2019: Big Boat to tow

Big Boat

Feb 28, 2019

Jud Buchanan from Campbellville, ON, is a friend of ours who loves boats but loves cars even more. In preparation for demonstrating the towing capacity of the new Subaru Ascent (Jud’s day job is a professional automotive facilitator) he hooked up a pretty hot-looking Yamaha AR240 Sport Boat. Boat and trailer weigh in just a picnic hamper less than 5,000 lbs. – a good test for the Ascent.

The picture shows the reality – even though the vehicle is a pretty big SUV, the boat on the trailer makes it look pretty small. Great pic!

Next week – YOUR great photo! The POTW photo of the week can be anything photographed on or near your boat, boat shows, kids, pets, lunch, costumes, signs – you pick it and send your photos, with a bit of a back story, to CYonboard@Kerrwil.com and put POTW in the subject line.

Neptunus 650F Review

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
