POTW: April 25, 2019 – Summer in Wilson

Wilson NY

Apr 25, 2019

Photo of the Week (POTW) is an opportunity to look at the album of shots that make up a great boating experience.  Our readers, friends and anyone else are invited to share their shots.

Jeff Ante is always the first across the Lake to Wilson NY, his fave local cruising spot. He’s far from alone…Tucked into the peaceful harbour at Wilson you can feel totally isolated and enjoy being far, far away from the Big Smoke enjoying that sundown beverage. The fact is that your around 25 miles from the CN Tower.

And, next issue – let’s have YOUR great photo! The POTW photo of the week can be anything photographed on or near your boat, boat shows, kids, pets, cruising spots, big fish, lunch, costumes, signs – you pick it and send your photos, with a bit of a back story, to CYonboard@kerrwil.com and put POTW in the subject line.

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
