POTW

Apr 12, 2018

Our Photo of the Week is actually a Video of the Week that came our way from Rick Shaddock of Squamish Yacht Club. What a venue.

Here’s what Rick writes:

I’ve been shooting the SOAR races in video and still for Inflow Express (Friday afternoon race to Squamish from Porteau Cove) and official race day (Saturday) since 2003. I edit about a ten-minute video set to music for the Saturday night on a large screen and under the stars. Example here. 15 years of video and still now.

Please send us yours!! The POTW rules are simple. It has to be your shot, taken in and around boats or from a boat. Or anything else boat-ish. Or any great photo of docks, ports, winches, engine parts, people, and pets on boats, of course. You shoot it, we’ll include it.

Send your photos to cyonboard@kerrwil.com with POTW in the subject and we’ll get them into the publication soon! Thanks in advance.

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
