Night at the Museum: ShipwreckedTonight, Thursday, August 24th from 7 – 9 pm the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston will be hosting Night at the Museum: Shipwrecked! Join us for a night of live music, interactive activities and refreshments.

It was a calm, clear night when the SS Comet set sail across the Great Lakes. Like many nights such as these, it was smooth sailing as far as the eye could see. Who would have guessed that in just a matter of hours, the ship would sink below the waves of Lake Ontario, taking all but a few of her passengers with her. Will you go down with the ship or succeed in reaching a lifeboat?

Throughout the evening, you are encouraged to interact with Museum staff to solve the mystery, discover actual shipwreck artifacts and take part in interactive games and activities. At the end of the night, all will be revealed… Who snagged a spot in a lifeboat, and who remained aboard our sinking ship? Prizes are up for grabs for those who solved the mystery!

This is an 18+ event. Tickets are $20 and include admission and a drink ticket; additional non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase.

The Museum is excited to partner with Something in the Water Brewing to offer an evening of music, socializing, and food & drink services.

They have all been exceptional yachts, but this is the one I would most want to own myself. It’s a personal choice and a matter of taste as to whether you would prefer to have a sedan express model or a flybridge but in my opinion, the flybridge layout offers some wonderful attributes.

We met with Neptunus Managing Director Jan Willem De Jong this past fall to take the new Neptunus 650F out in Lake Ontario.

The Other Virgin Islands

Sunset off St John

By Mark Stevens

I was first seduced by the United States Virgin Islands during a ferry ride from St. Thomas to Tortola to begin one of our earliest British Virgin Islands charters nearly twenty years ago.

A perfect sunset off St. John with St. Thomas views for backdrop.

Clearing Pillsbury Sound, surrounded by voluptuous emerald mountains as the ferry sliced through royal blue waters, I was struck by the unspoiled ambiance of St. John, the island gliding past our starboard beam and the irresistible charm of a village called Cruz Bay visible from our quarter stern.
