Greenline 40 making its debut at TIBS
The Toronto International Boat Show celebrates its 60th anniversary from January 12 -21, 2018 at the Enercare Centre. Since 1959, the Toronto Boat Show has grown exponentially to become North America’s largest indoor boat show featuring world class displays, 550 exhibitors and more than 1,200 boats from 6ft to 51ft for visitors to see and board. Visitors also can shop among thousands of marine accessories at the Mariners Marketplace and get summer-ready with outdoor gear, toys and décor at Cottage Country.
The Toronto Boat Show is a one-stop shop to see and buy all the latest boats, innovations and new products to hit the market. Exhibitor spaces are sold-out with all the major boat dealers from across Canada ready to showcase the latest boat innovations alongside manufacturer representatives who will be on hand to provide knowledgeable product information.
One of the must-sees is the first 2018 Greenline 40 Hybrid Yacht that will make its debut at the Toronto Boat Show. The yacht is good for the environment as it uses up to four times less fossil fuel than a planning powerboat in similar conditions. Not only does this innovation reduce fuel consumption, it also allows efficient electric propulsion using power supplied by the battery and solar power (Booth 156). Another new offering that is sure to appeal to boaters is the Dock Links Membership. With partner marinas from Lake Ontario through the TSW, into Georgian Bay and North Channel, members will receive 50% off transient rates, .05/L fuel discounts, parts discounts and free pump outs. Over the years Canadian Yachting has had the pleasure of doing several boat review articles on new Neptunus models and we are familiar with the qualities that Neptunus is famous for. They have all been exceptional yachts, but this is the one I would most want to own myself. It’s a personal choice and a matter of taste as to whether you would prefer to have a sedan express model or a flybridge but in my opinion, the flybridge layout offers some wonderful attributes.

We settled Svala into what my family and I had come to think of as the most desirable anchorage on Lake Ontario, on a sunny summer afternoon. With an abandoned settlement, an old schoolhouse full of swallows, giant snakes and a rum-running past, Main Duck Island had it all.

Decide on a crewed or bareboat charter
A crewed charter means you have a captain who manages the boat and maybe a chef or mate as well. Crewed charters ensure a safe and comfortable vacation with most everything done for you. The chefs are usually outstanding so if you’re a foodie, you’ll be in heaven and you may be able to pick up new recipes too. Larger crewed yachts may also have a mate who works with the captain and will do things like getting toys (kayaks, SUPs, snorkel gear, etc.) ready for you to use so you do very little work.
