Marine Diesel Courseinstructor Craig Morley

This one-day course is designed to provide you with a basic understanding of how your Marine Diesel engine operates and how it should be maintained. The course consists of both theory and practical demonstration sessions.

We conduct the session in the shop with new, used and broken parts to handle and view during the theory portion of the presentation. You will become familiar with everything that is inside and attached to a marine diesel engine. All associated systems such as – fuel, exhaust, cooling, transmissions, propeller shafts, engine mounts and alignments etc. will be covered.

During the afternoon practical demonstrations WE will : jump start a diesel, operate a engine on a test stand, bleed fuel injection systems, demonstrate valve adjustments, change water pump impellers, winterize engine etc. Anyone wishing to participate may – so dress appropriately as you may encounter diesel fuel and engine oil. Hand cleaner and shop towels are supplied. I cannot make you into a Diesel Mechanic in a day but you will leave with a very comfortable understanding of what you CAN, should and should not do with your Marine Diesel Engine.

The shop is heated but not room temperature hot. The shop door will be open for a while when we run the engines in the afternoon. Dress warmly including footwear.

Class starts at 9 AM sharp as we have a lot to cover! We will continue until approximately 5 pm or until everyone has had their fill of fun! Please arrive a little early to register and pick up your textbook. Complementary coffee and muffins available in the AM. Lunch is provided as well.

Only 12 persons/day! - Register early to reserve your spot as I have had a tremendous response in previous years ! Virtual Boat ToursWe all love boats and nothing can break us up! So, what better way to spend our time than looking at interesting boats and going aboard in a virtual ride or tour. We have asked our friends at various dealers and manufacturers to help us assemble a one-stop online resource to experience some of the most interesting boats on the market today. Where the CY Team has done a review, we connect you to that expert viewpoint. If you can’t go boating, you can almost experience the thrill via your screen. Axopar 37 XCWhole new ball game…

Set aside your assumptions and expectations for a few minutes while we try to describe the new Axopar 37 XC that made its American debut at the 2020 Miami International Boat Show. This boat represents a whole new ball game in terms of design, performance, seakeeping and functionality. In fact, I’d say it takes a ‘clean sheet of paper’ approach to boating – it’s that different.

Exiting Hogs BackBy John Morris

History: right after gym and just before chemistry class. Fifty minutes of naming the prime ministers by date and looking out the window. Who knew it was actually interesting.

And in some ways it hardly matters because the Rideau Waterway is just so amazingly beautiful. Driving your boat through the locks is wonderful fun for kids of all ages (adult kids, too) and the scenery is sensational. The history is a huge bonus however, and worth understanding from both as a political lesson and from an engineering perspective.
