Brentwood BayFew cruising grounds in the world can match British Columbia’s coastline for stunning scenery: majestic fjords, half-hidden inlets, and hundreds of islands. And to complete this perfect picture, a temperate climate! Boaters can explore the sheltered waterways and the popular marine parks around Vancouver Island or drop anchor amongst the Gulf Islands.

You’re welcome to join the Brentwood Bay Power Squadron for their summer cruises. This will give you an opportunity to explore the Gulf Islands with a flotilla of experienced boaters.

Ken Swift is the contact at the Brentwood Bay Power squadron for these events. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Reply dates are all 7 days before the start date for the cruise in question.

Note exception: Victoria - Ron Harris Memorial Cruise.

There will be Pancake Breakfasts on Sunday mornings. (volunteers please).

To be part of the group, please make sure to provide your names, emails, boat
length, boat name & cell numbers so I can let the marinas know.

Ken will make the bulk of reservations, but Skippers are responsible to make their own marina bookings. So why not sit down and book the marinas right now? Then it’s done.
You can always cancel if something comes up, but if you wait you may be out of luck!

Where do you find the best Ice Cream?

Cowichan BayBy Catherine Dook

Where do you find the best ice cream?

We had sailed around the Gulf Islands for a couple of weeks, dropping the hook wherever we wanted, and then lying there for days so relaxed as to be in an altered state of consciousness. John called it euphoria, but I called it a ‘coma.’ Whichever it was, we had a wonderful time.

Our two solar panels, shiny with the brilliant sunshine of July, kept our refrigerator running so well (at least during the day) that I was able to keep artisan bread dough chilled, half-a-dozen Mars Bars...

Scarab 255 Open

Scarab 255 OpenBy Andy Adams and John Armstrong

You can imagine,at the GroupeBeneteau dealer meeting in Michigan last fall where all the Four Winns, Scarab, Wellcraft, and Glastrondealers had come to see the latest new models, the docks were lined up with gleaming brand-new boats to show the dealers and media – and they certainly put on a show! But for me, the Scarab 255 Open was an immediate stand out. This is a boat that breaks new ground and brings fresh thinking and interpretation of the boating experience to a wide range of buyers.

We had a quick look around but the test drives would have to wait until the next day.
