altTiming is everything. The Vancouver International Boat Show, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012, could not have picked a better time to return to BC Place, and to move its In-Water Display to the ideal venue, Granville Island Marina. The show returns to BC Place after a two-year absence: in 2010 it was displaced by the Winter Olympics, which used the stadium for opening and closing ceremonies, while in 2011 renovations at BC Place shifted the show to the new Vancouver Convention Centre, a smaller venue.

The show runs Wednesday to Sunday, February 8-12.

altYour friends at Canadian Yachting and Boating Industry Canada magazines want to thank you for your enthusiastic support of our many marine media vehicles throughout 2011. We have had an excellent year and our list of subscribers has grown. We are gratified by this and we want to take this time to wish you, your families and friends a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season! Canada has been a bright spot in the global marine industry this year, and for the past few years. We should take a moment to appreciate our good fortune during a time when many of our peers in other countries are suffering.

altTrue North Yachts founding partner Ross Bryden Richardson, passed away peacefully at 9:50pm on Monday November 14th at Princess Margaret Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Ross was not an observer of life but rather one of its most active participants. He amazed everyone with his determination to win this fight and participated in both sporting and social events right up to the very end.

 Killarney

KillarneyStory and Photos by: Jennifer Harker

We’re aboard Attigouatan, a Pursuit 2260 that normally lives life as a friend’s cottage boat, running back and forth from dock to dock. This will be her longest run in four years, travelling the approximately 120 kilometres (80 miles) northwest from Parry Sound to Killarney, threading our way through the northern reaches of the stunning 30,000 Islands of Georgian Bay’s eastern shoreline.

Her name evokes an early indigenous name for Lake Huron – Spirit Lake.

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440By Zuzana Prochazka

Jeanneau unveiled the first hull of their 440 in Annapolis with dramatic flair. On command, the plastic that sheathed half the boat...
