Anchor Yacht SalesAnchor Yacht Sales of Port Credit, Ontario, an exclusive Beneteau dealer for the past 24 years, announced that they have sold a new Beneteau Oceanis 38, in fact Hull number 1 of this brand new design, on the very first day and in the very first hour of the 2013 Annapolis boat show in Annapolis, Maryland.

End of Youngstown RegattaAfter 40 summers, the Youngstown Level Regatta is done. Sure, there’s a nostalgia piece about all the great times we had, about Jeff Long Tarzan-ing his spar and setting his J24 on its side or about Don Allen’s bikini babes in Sailing News. I could write about the Whippet crew from Oakville sailing in Michelin Man suits or recall brushing my teeth with beer from B-Kwik, but that is only part of the story.

YYCWe thank John Morris and our friends over at Canadian Yachting magazine who wrote a most complimentary article on the Youngstown Level Regatta in their October issue.  We rated the inside back page no less.  It is still somewhat hard for us to believe that after 40 years the Level is no more, but we have plans underway for the next regatta to take its place on the same weekend, July 26-27, 2014.  We apologize for not being able to formally announce the details yet because we know many of you want to make plans and are anxious to know if your boat will be among

Maritime Marine Museum of BCOne of the biggest maritime tragedies in World War II is the story of convoy PQ-17 which carried relief supplies to the Russians. In July 1942, this convoy travelling from Iceland to Russia was attacked by German forces. Upon receiving intelligence, the escorts were ordered to withdraw and 22 out of the 33 ships in the convoy were sunk. The merchant sailors didn’t have the capacity to defend themselves and 153 men were killed. Winston Churchill described the incident as "one of the most melancholy naval episodes in the whole of the war."

Pacific Yacht ForumThe Pacific Yacht Industry Forum is 4 day programme of events for the Pacific superyacht industries, taking place in central Vancouver during late Spring, 2014.  Comprising a 2 day conference and a 3 day Yacht Show, this international event will target visitors from across the globe, placing BC and the north-west Pacific firmly on the superyacht map.

 Killarney

KillarneyStory and Photos by: Jennifer Harker

We’re aboard Attigouatan, a Pursuit 2260 that normally lives life as a friend’s cottage boat, running back and forth from dock to dock. This will be her longest run in four years, travelling the approximately 120 kilometres (80 miles) northwest from Parry Sound to Killarney, threading our way through the northern reaches of the stunning 30,000 Islands of Georgian Bay’s eastern shoreline.

Her name evokes an early indigenous name for Lake Huron – Spirit Lake.

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440By Zuzana Prochazka

There are few things more satisfying than watching someone thumb their nose at tradition and introduce something revolutionary that kicks convention to the curb. French designer, Philippe Briand, has done just that for Jenneau’s new line of Sun Odyssey family cruisers. By starting with a clean sheet, Briand re-thought how we move about on deck and below, and the results on the Jeanneau 440 are game changing.

Jeanneau unveiled the first hull of their 440 in Annapolis with dramatic flair. On command, the plastic that sheathed half the boat...
