Sirocco FanThe company that makes Sirocco cabin fans is selling its products to the world but boasts that it has “re-shored” it’s production to its Wiarton ON facility. Thought you’d be interested – here’s their press release.

ONTARIO, CANADA, November 11, 2016 – Leading marine fan manufacturer Caframo® will introduce the European marine industry to the next generation in cabin comfort, the Sirocco II Cabin Fan, at next week’s METSTRADE 2016 in Amsterdam. See it at the new Caframo booth location in the British Pavilion, stand 3.234, Tuesday, November 15 through Thursday, November 17.

“Re-shoring” is one of the newest buzz words as Caframo joins a number of North American boat builders in bringing production back to North America. Caframo is re-shoring the manufacturing of the new cabin fan to their Canadian operation to ensure best-in-class quality. The Sirocco II will add to the long list of products that are currently manufactured in Canada by Caframo.

With the recent signing of the free trade deal between Europe and Canada, timing could not have been more opportune for Caframo as it brings the most advanced cabin fan to the European consumer. Caframo aims to increase market share in the growing European marine market and looks to bring a wide assortment of innovative products to the European consumer.

The popular original Sirocco Cabin Fan introduced the industry and boat owners to a unique gimbal design for 360° directional airflow. The superior next generation three-speed Sirocco II boasts of 12-24 Volt auto-sensing capability and is designed, engineered, built and tested to the highest quality standards in Caframo’s Ontario, Canada manufacturing plant.

The Sirocco II has the same mounting footprint as the original Sirocco, making it easy for owners of the original model, around the world, to upgrade to the new model. “There are many existing owners of the original Sirocco who would potentially be looking to upgrade to the Sirocco II, which would be an exciting opportunity for our retail partners,” Brand Manager Dhwanil Shah said.

The Sirocco II sports a re-engineered grill for greater strength and durability. It also features an improved control layout that is located on either side of the fan for easy access after installation. For added convenience, four timer settings allow the fan timer to be set for three, six, nine or twelve hours.

Available in white and black, the Sirocco II also includes industry leading features standard with all Caframo fans, such as FingerSafe™ blades, auto shut-off, ultra-low power draw, UV resistant materials and compliance with CE standards.

Caframo fans are original equipment on leading boat brands and available at marine retailers worldwide. For more information about the Sirocco II and other Caframo marine products, visit stand 3.234 at METSTRADE 2016 or the Caframo web site.

The Middens of Galiano Island

By Catherine Dook

We motored our way into Montague Harbour along a twisted channel with our engine muffled by the leaning trees.

“This is peaceful,” I told my husband, John.

“Look,” I pointed to an eagle sitting on the top of a tree overlooking the channel entrance like a sentinel giving permission for us to pass. Dignified, unruffled, his impassioned gaze noted and then dismissed us, as uninteresting and perhaps unworthy. I was tired. We’d pulled up anchor at Portland Island that morning, and the grind of the diesel engine had worn me down.

Almost a decade ago, Cruisers Yachts Inc., launched an entire line of express cruisers called “Cantius” (named after company owner KC Stock’s grandfather) that began with the 48Cantius then came the 54, the 60 and now the Cantius 50. In the fall of 2017, we will be at the debut of the 42 Cantius at the Fort Lauderdale International boat show.

These designs have a strong family resemblance withhandsome and distinctive linesand with a design philosophy that you could say, pioneered the new version of the express cruiser.
