Jenneau CY TilleyAt the recent Jeanneau Owners’ Rendezvous in the British Virgin Islands, Jeanneau owners, dealers and a few friends were treated to a week of experiencing the benefits of the yachting lifestyle in a gorgeous setting. Partnered for this occasion with Sunsail, the BVI Rendezvous event is held every two years and it has developed a growing group of participants who are enamoured not only with the BVI’s but also with the Jeanneau community. This event is unique in that it is the only destination rendezvous that Jeanneau does, drawing a large group of owners and quite a few North American dealers.

Photo 1: A big thank you to Canadian Yachting for helping to sponsor the 2016 Jeanneau Owner's Rendezvous in the British Virgin Islands! The Tilley Hats were a huge hit! — with Travis Firth, Canadian Yachting and Jeanneau America.

The itinerary for the week is packed full of events that take full advantage of the beautiful cruising grounds as well as many of the hottest local attractions. Guest speaker Gary Jobson, world class sailor, television commentator and Vice President of the International Sailing Federation, gave a moving talk to the group.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the water this summer! — with Pip Ziman, Jill Mendez Ziman, Jeanine Bekas, John Kuony, Jack Martin & Associates and Peter Island Resort & Spa.

Paul Fenn, Past President of Jeanneau America, noted that upwards of 40% of this year’s attendees were owners of their second or third Jeanneau yacht. Paul expressed his feelings about the rendezvous by quoting one of the attendees who stated that she had ‘never seen a happier group of people in (her) life’.

Benefits of attending this event this year included Canadian Yachting customized Tilley HatsHelly Hansen gear and one lucky owner winning the Sunsail charter raffle grand prize.

Other Jeanneau community events are taking place throughout the year. The French Rendezvous in Palma, Mallorca is only days away, running May 6 to 9, 2016. This gathering will feature the stunning Jeanneau 64, purchased in Canada and delivered by Shawn Bannon and the Navy Point Yacht Sales team to its new owners in Canet en Roussillion in the south of France. This is a great opportunity to experience both the Jeanneau 54 and Jeanneau 64 in exceptional conditions.

Other opportunities to join the Jeanneau lifestyle include the 16th Annual Western Canada Jeanneau Rendezvous at Poets Cove Marina Resort, June 17 to 19 and Summer Solstice events all over the world on June 18 and 19, including Toronto, Chesapeake Bay and Catalina. CYOB Destinations: We Visit the Hilton Beach Marina

Hilton BeachBy Amelia Morris

Ah Canadian simplicity at its finest; small town, big marina. Little Hilton Beach (population 200!), which I am lucky enough to call my cottage country, is located on the north-east coast of St. Joseph Island. The Hilton Beach Marina is one of the largest and most major ports of call in the Western North Channel. It also has a long and rich history dating back to the 1850’s.

I spoke with Marina Manager, Laura McRae and got the full scoop on what goes on in this inconspicuous but busy marina.

Scarab 255 Open

Scarab 255 OpenBy Andy Adams and John Armstrong

You can imagine,at the GroupeBeneteau dealer meeting in Michigan last fall where all the Four Winns, Scarab, Wellcraft, and Glastrondealers had come to see the latest new models, the docks were lined up with gleaming brand-new boats to show the dealers and media – and they certainly put on a show! But for me, the Scarab 255 Open was an immediate stand out. This is a boat that breaks new ground and brings fresh thinking and interpretation of the boating experience to a wide range of buyers.

We had a quick look around but the test drives would have to wait until the next day.
