SoftLines Anchor Ropes
A soft-to-the-touch polypropylene line is now available for anchor rode and it has some distinct advantages. The SoftLines anchor lines are softer and more pliable than nylon and will release knots more easily. They weigh less and will float, a distinct advantage. Their construction makes splicing more difficult so the manufacturer has added strong, hand-sewn webbing connections that make appropriate-sized eyes for easy use. SoftLine products are available in a variety of colours to match boat schemes and in sizes 3/8, ½ and 5/8-inch diameters. Prices start at $35.00.
Softlines Mooring Lines
Spring commissioning is a great time to take a close look at mooring lines – is an upgrade or replacement in order? After handling mooring lines all last summer, we quickly became fans of softer polypropylene ropes, especially those from Softlines. These are the ultimate in softness in the hand and are super flexible, even in the cold. Like all poly lines, they float and so are less of a danger of fouling props or running gear. We also like how Softlines provide eye-splices through strongly stitched nylon webbing. Tests show the line will fail before the web attachments do.
