The headline is love and unity but those are euphemisms for competitive racing and heavy partying, both is huge measure at ASW 2023, which wrapped up on Sunday with the final day of racing delivering the strongest wind of the regatta, with solid south easterly trade winds gusting up to 18 knots.

The headline is love and unity but those are euphemisms for competitive racing and heavy partying, both is huge measure at ASW 2023, which wrapped up on Sunday with the final day of racing delivering the strongest wind of the regatta, with solid south easterly trade winds gusting up to 18 knots.

The 54th edition of Antigua Sailing Week attracted boats and crew from over 20 nations including Canada, with sailors competing from six continents. Moderate trade winds and tropical heat blessed the racing all week; sailing conditions were absolutely fabulous.

Antigua Sailing WeekSecond overall winning the Peter Deeth Trophy and winning CSA 1 for the Curtain Bluff Trophy was John Evans & Trey Sheehan’s Hooligan USA, scoring eleven race wins. Sarnia ON’s Brad Boston (seen also in POTW this week) , was tactician on the Cleveland OH-based boat. The result was a string of bullets over the week scoring eleven race wins.

Several Canadian boats participating in the Caribbean circuit raced hard in the event and many Canadians found their way onto crews from all over as well as bareboat racing teams.
