Bitter End YC PreviousThe Bitter End Yacht Club in Virgin Gorda has long been a favourite destination for Canadians cruisers and charterers in the British Virgin Islands. recently this famous resort sustained significant damages from Hurricane Irma. John Glynn, Marketing Director for the Bitter End, was at the US Sail Show in Annapolis with his display speaking with hundreds if not thousands of sympathetic well wishers.

John’s message is “We at BEYC are currently fundraising for the relief efforts for the people of Virgin Gorda BVI. Have been since Irma hit. And will continue to do so until the wonderful people of VG have all they need. Because until they are all back on their feet, we can't begin the process of rebuilding BEYC”

Bitter End BVI

On September 6, 2017 Hurricane Irma swept through the Caribbean causing mass destruction throughout the region. In response to the overwhelming outreach we have received from our guests who want to help, we set up a fund to support the employees of Bitter End who have been impacted by the storm and the Virgin Gorda community rebuild their lives. BEYC and the community of Virgin Gorda have been devastated by the storm.

Bitter End YC Devastation Bitter End was founded as a family resort and yacht club in 1973 and is one of the largest employers on Virgin Gorda with over 175 employees. Over the last forty years, the spirited team that works at Bitter End has become an extended family for many all over the world. We are all heartbroken that our employees, their families and the entire Virgin Gorda community have lost so much in Hurricane Irma. We need your support to help them rebuild their lives and the Virgin Gorda community. Please make a donation today. Every dollar donated will go towards BEYC Caribbean employees who were impacted by Hurricane Irma and the community of Virgin Gorda.

How to be as Polite as a Canadian at Gulf Island Marine Park Anchorages

Gulf Island Marine ParkStory and photos by Catherine Dook

One summer I sold ice cream and knick-knacks at Montague Harbour Marina. I was standing behind the counter one day, when the phone rang. “There’s a boat at anchor in the middle of the bay that’s been playing loud music for three hours,” complained an irate-sounding male voice. “Can you make them stop?”

“Um, no,” I replied. “The marina has no jurisdiction over the anchorage. Besides, my only weapon is a till.” The man hung up on me.

Now when you think about it, you can understand why the poor fellow was annoyed.

Cruisers Yachts Cantius 42

Cruisers Yachts Cantius 42By John Armstrong and Andy Adams

The latest new model from Cruisers Yacht sis the Cantius 42 and this yacht made its debut in the fall of 2017, at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. We had the pleasure of going all through this newest Cantius there and clearly, the Cruisers Yachts people continue to refine and expand on all the features that have made the Cantius line such a success.

The new 42 continues the Cantius family resemblance with handsome and distinctive lines including a big section of hull side glazing port and starboard that makes the full-beam mid-ship master stateroom feel very bright and open.
