PCSBSThe Port Credit Spring Boat Show has been postponed for 2017, with plans to return in 2018. The show, set to celebrate its fourth year from June 2-4, was held at The Credit Village Marina in Port Credit, ON.

Show managers, Canadian Outdoor Sport Shows, said this week that there were a number of logistical reasons for the shows re-scheduling, including the Canada’s 150th celebrations.

Heralded as the official kick-off to the boating season, the Port Credit Spring Boat Show showcased a wide assortment of new and used power and sailboats up to 60 feet; boating related products, accessories & services and live entertainment.

Many marine related services from around Ontario, who supported the show, while disappointed regarding the postponement, have also shared that they are somewhat relieved. Boat sales have been swift this fall and spring, resulting in an unexpected lower spring inventory.

‘It was a great show for us,’ stated Mike Burns, president of North South Yacht Sales. ‘It didn’t hurt that it was in our backyard, but it was great to see so many of the boat dealers and services from surrounding areas participate. The more participants – the more successful the show’.

Canadian Outdoor Sport Shows will take the spring and summer to recalibrate and return to negotiations with the City of Mississauga at a later date to start preparations for next year’s show.

PCSBS 2The next show is slated to take place June 1 – 3, 2018. For those interested in exhibiting, please contact Canadian Outdoor Sport Shows to book space.

An Abacos Adventure

Great Guana CayBy Mark Stevens; Photos by Sharon Matthew-Stevens

It’s a perfect Sunday morning jaunt.

We’re gliding through green-blue waters, colours so vivid and bright they hurt your eyes. We’re set for a close reach out of a harbour guarded by a necklace of tiny emerald islands decorated by palms that dance in fifteen knots of wind.

Our boat, “Tropical Escape II” (perfect name for both the boat and our adventure), is a 44-foot Robertson and Caine catamaran, chartered from Sunsail’s Marsh Harbour base on Bahamas’ Great Abaco Island.

Jeanneau NC 795 – designed in France and perfect for Canada

Jeanneau NC 795By Glen Cairns

After a period of record breaking hot and humid weather we had a dose of more traditional east coast conditions for our test run aboard the Jeanneau NC 795, with steady drizzle and a 15 – 20 knot south east breeze kicking up a short chop on Halifax’s Bedford Basin.

Last fall the management team from Dartmouth based Seamasters Services Limited, Chris Mills and Tara Mills along with sales manager Dave Trott, had an introduction to Jeanneau’s NC line at Yamaha’s fall gathering in Ontario.
